We are a child care center serving children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. We are located in The Glen on Route 5 in Derby, NY, and have been serving Derby, Angola, and the rest of the Southtowns for almost 20 years. Several former students have gone on to join our staff as teachers, and many more have come back for visits - kids make great memories here!
6 weeks to 18 months
Our baby room curriculum focuses on bonding and developmental milestones (rolling, sitting, crawling and walking). We sing songs, take walks outdoors and explore baby-friendly, sensory-driven art and science projects.
18 months to 3 years
At the toddler level, we introduce more structured learning with circle time each morning, focusing on concepts like colors, shapes, letters, numbers, weather, holidays and days of the week. Toddlers continue to refine fine motor skills through art projects, sensory play and group meal time.
3 to 4 years
The Junior curriculum is focused on socialization, group play, freindships, and responsibility. We continue to expand on and reinforce academic concepts from the toddler room and intruduce new science, math and language concepts they will need for Pre-K. Large motor skills are developed through time outside and in our gymnasium.
4 to 5 years (Pre-k)
The major focus in the Senior room is Kindergarten readiness. Students continue to foster friendships and learn to work co-operatively, while expanding the study of letter sounds and number values. Students practice writing including individual letters and names. Critical thinking is developed through reading and discussing both age-appropriate fiction and non-fiction with different themes from week to week (holidays, science topics, etc.)
5 to 12 years
We offer before and after school programs during the school year for students who need additional wraparound care. Before school students will eat a healthy breakfast, and after school students will receive a healthy snack. Students are encouraged to complete homework after school and provided with supplies and help as requested. During holiday breaks we spend time outside, work on individual and group creative projects, and go on field trips.
Our educational programs are designed to support and encourage the growth and development of each child. We aim to create the foundation for a lifetime full of curious and creative learning.
Our son started his experience here when he was 12 weeks old and he is now over a year old. He loves the time that he spends here with Ms. Kelly, Ms. Sydney, and the others in the infant area! Every morning since he started to walk he runs up to the door and knocks on it, and when they open it up he gets the biggest smile! Everything from registration to his eating needs was taken care of quickly and easily. They are very active with the children and he's always bringing home different crafts and things they work on throughout the day. They have answered and exceed any request that we've made whether it was using signs that we use at home, or using a certain potty seat that he likes to use. I would highly recommend Kids Kastle.
My son started in April 2017 and we absolutely love it! He’s learned so much and loves his teachers!! The staff is very welcoming and always take the time to talk to myself or husband about our son’s day and give us updates on how he’s progressing!! I would highly recommend Kids Kastle!!

We are firmly committed to providing a safe and nurturing place for children to socialize, learn, and grow. We believe each child has unique capabilities and offer a program that provides ample opportunities to develop these through age-appropriate lesson plans and hands-on activities.
We aim to promote self-confidence and to foster curiosity and creativity, while developing self-control and self-esteem. We strive to treat each student as if they were our own child and to give them a home-like atmosphere where they can feel comfortable and loved.
Our curriculum includes small motor skills, language development, reading readiness, math readiness, music, art, physical development and social skill development. We strive to include simple Spanish and American Sign Language in our lesson plans to broaden the children's communication skills.
It is the philosophy of our center to create an atmosphere with the proper combination of freedom and control within the use of different learning centers. We have a theme-based curriculum that is divided into various areas of learning. The themes coinccide with special occasions, seasons, and age-appropriate topics for young children.
As part of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), a variety of healthy meals are served to our children daily. Weekly meal menus are posted and substitutions are provided for children with food allergies. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 8:30 am and a full, balanced lunch is served at 11:45 am each day. A healthy afternoon snack is also provided at 3:00 pm. Children are encouraged to try a variety of new foods, especially our hot lunches which we cook every day on site. We provide a mix of fruits, vegetables, grains and protein throughout the day. We strive to provide at least 4 of each child's 5 fruit and vegetable servings daily.
I've worked in childcare for almost 40 years. I have both a Bachelors and Associates in Early Childhood Education, and have cared for all age levels from infant to school age children over the course of my career. I have 3 children of my own and 3 grandchildren. I've owned Kids' Kastle since 2006 and was the center's director from 2001 through 2023.
I have worked at Kids' Kastle since 2010. I've mostly worked with seniors but have also filled in for every age group. I have my masters in education and my New York State certification. I am happily married and we have one child together. I have been the assistant director for many years and most recently stepped into the director position.
I have been working for Kids Kastle since 2002 and with many different age groups, primarily toddlers. Currently I work in the Toddler classroom. I am married and have 2 adult children. I have enjoyed watching all the children I have taught grow and succeed.
I work with the school age children. I have an associates degree in both business administration as well as liberal arts and humanities. I also have a background in dance and teaching dance to young people. I have worked as the school age teacher for many years and have loved watching them learn, grow and turn into wonderful little humans. I also often help out during the day in other classrooms.
I work in the Junior and Senior classroom currently but have worked in all the rooms over my time here. I love preparing the students for kindergarten. I also have a background in dance as well as passion for farm life.
I graduated Cum Laude from Keuka College in 2023, and hold a Bachelor's of the Arts in Child and Family Studies. My areas of expertise are child development, family structures, and the language arts. I work with the Juniors and Seniors most often and love to watch them grow. I enjoy reading, music, movies, and spending quality time with my family.
I am the Lead teacher in the infant room and have been working with the infants here since mid 2022. I have my CDA certification. I have 2 daughters and I enjoy spending time in the outdoors kayaking, hiking, and horseback riding. I’ve lived in Derby all my life. I enjoy teaching the babies and helping them discover new experiences.
I graduated from Lakeshore in 2022 and have worked at Kids' Kastle since 2021. I've worked with every age group, especially the toddlers and infants. I was born in Derby and have lived here all my life. I'm very passionate about music and musical theatre.
I have worked here for a little while now filling in in the afternoon where I am needed. I am the mother of two grown boys. I have a degree in surgical technology. In addition to working here part-time I have another full-time position working with children in a school setting.
I previously worked as the lead teacher in the infant room from 2019 to 2021, and returned in 2023. I was born and raised in Angola, and graduated from Lakeshore in 2012. I obtained my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2014 from Erie Community College. I live with my partner, Jordan, and my son, Bentley. I enjoy spending time with my family and working on our family farm.
I've been cooking at Kids' Kastle since 2022. I also help out in some of the classrooms when I'm needed, so I work with many different age groups. I love music, gaming and traveling. I love to try new foods and then learn to cook them.
